is a must for everybody that loves street festivals, good electronic music, crazy vibes and never-ending gigs in the many unique Berlin clubs.
WHAT A DAY, Berlin! What can I say? Clichely I can say this: I’m in love with you. And because of that Ive said it before, and say it again: I think Ill stay with you for a while. However, you are NOT the best friend to give me peace to study. So how can I possibly make it with you at this time of my life..? Ross tells me I just need to go with your flow and find my way. Ok. So far so good, and I quite good at adapting, but fucking hell – right now, Berlin, Im knackered. 1st of May with you was one of those days that goes into my history books.
We started off at the Turkish market with a new friend of mine, the photographer Ruben, that happens to be Spanish but has lived in Berlin for many years. Wandering around the colorful streets I inhaled the intensity of the mix of meaning of this day surrounded by activists, immigrants, hipsters, photographers, bratwursts, kebab shops, musicians, children and their parents, beer and cocktail vendors, police ready to pepper spray the ones that dont behave (according to Ross that got first hand experience of this last year) and good live gigs on every corner.
At 13 we were installed in Spreevaldplatz together with hundreds of others, and had a good spot in order to hear the music pumping out from one of the buildings where DJ ‘I unfortunately dont know who’ played really good music. Josh, a friend I got while in Berlin last year joined us with a lot of other random people and before I knew it we were having a party. Ross got very popular cause of his cowboy hat and generous sharing of the many bratwurst he managed to continuously purchase on the corner (as if anybody around were hungry!?).
At 11pm or who knows anyway, we went to mythical CDV (Club der Visionaire) to see Ricardo Villalobos who is apparently playing here every 1st of May. I looked forward to see him somewhere else than Ibiza for once, and well. I think it was cool but to be honest from there everything is rather blurry. Sorry about that. But here are the rest of the pictures! I fell in love with those flower girls. Ah, and Ross got a fan club due to his Scottish folk dancing.
ILL BE BACK NEXT YEAR FOR SURE!
